PRIZES ADDED!
The Winner of the deathmatch stage of the event will receive a 1 month Premium Subscription to QuakeLive. This allows a player to join servers with premium maps and game types.
The top 2 overall winners will also receive a 1 Month Subscription. If the overall winner is also the player that won the FFA portion of the event, the prize will go to the next player in line.
CSN would like to thank ID Software for donating these prizes and for their continued support of the Cyber Sports Network.
--------------------------------------------
StarCraft II is currently the largest and most lucrative esports game in the world and the Quake series is the reason for the existence of esports. These two games have changed how the community and industry sees esports and this tournament will bring the games together for the first time. This tournament is for those StarCraft II players that have recently showed an interest in QuakeLive and who have expressed an appreciation for the skill set involved.
QuakeLive is a free (in browser) First Person Shooter that requires precise mouse control and a high APM (Action Per Minute). StarCraft players know these requirements well and many of them have mastered the skills of managing a map filled with items and troops that must be given precise instructions to destroy an opponent.
The QuakeLive is currently starving for new players and CSN feels that a tournament catered specifically to StarCraft II players interested in trying QuakeLive will go a long ways in helping to revive the father of esports.
Free For All Definition:
Deathmatch or Player vs All (PvA, also called DM or free-for-all) is a widely-used gameplay mode integrated into many shooter and real-time strategy (RTS) computer games. Normally the goal of a deathmatch game is to kill (or "frag", from the military term) as many other players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the player that accumulated the greatest number of frags.
Tournament Overview:
Registration open to any SC2 player that is new to QuakeLive or of Amatuer status
Free For All - 6 to 8 players per server will compete for the highest 'Frag' (kills) Total to determine advancing players.
2 Maps per round (Scores from each map added together to determine advancing players)
2 to 3 Rounds for the bracket
Top 6 players from the QuakeLive stage will advance to play in a single elimination SC2 Bracket to determine the overall Champion
Players will use the Cyber Sports Network Events page to register for the event. Once the 'Check In' process has been completed, on the day of the event, administrators will divide the players into groups and post those groups, the map choices and a link to the server.

Players will play a Deathmatch (FFA) round of 2 maps. Map scores will be added together to determine the top 4 players that will advance to the next round.
Once the field of players has been narrowed down to 8 players, a final round of 2 maps will be played and frags tallied to determine the 6-8 players that will advance to the single elimination StarCraft II portion of the event where the first SC2/QL Champion will be crowned.
The Cyber Sports Network would like to thank players from both games in their support of our events, coverage and community involvement. CSN believes in creating relationships that transcend genres and building esports from the base... up!
Because this is a Free For All (Deathmatch) in which players are grouped into a server with more then one other person, the bracket system for this event will not be relevant. The following will explain how things will work on the day of the event. PLEASE READ! It is much easier then the amount of words listed below. :)
1. Players will 'Check In' using the CSN Check In system as they normally would for a bracket event. This will let the admins know who is here and ready to be put into a server.
2. The admins will look at the number of players who have checked in and decide on the number of players per server. They will create the correct number of servers, labeling each similar to the following; "SC2 QL Group A"
3. The comments of the event page, as well as the original event information will be updated with the listings of each Group and the players that will be included in each.
4. An admin will then send out a message, using the CSN Message center, with the 'link' to each group and a copy of the full list of players in each group.
5. Players will find their Group Link, click it and it should load QuakeLive and take you directly to the server.
6. Once in the server, after all of the group members have arrived, the admin will instruct players to 'Ready Up' (hitting F3 makes you 'ready') and the map will start.
7. Once the map has been completed, the Admin will take a screenshot of the map scores and report those scores to the comments section and original Event information tab.
8. A 2nd map will then take place and will be added to the first map scores to determine the 4 players from each group that will advance to the next Round in the QL portion of the event.
9. Once all rounds of the QuakeLive Stage have been completed and the totals tallied, the top 4 players will then advance to the StarCraft II portion of the event. Those 6 to 8 players will then be seeded on the bracket for a single elimination, best of 3, StarCraft II Finals.
