Pysko Audio 5.1 Sound System

Intro:
I have had the pleasure for several weeks to try out one of these futuristic looking bad boys. I have to say that I am quite pleased with their overall performance and how the 5.1 surround has me convinced. I have used almost every brand of headset out there from Triton, Razer, Plantronics and Pysko Audio’s definitely take the cake on several different levels.
Structural Design/Appeal:
To start the Pysko Audio 5.1 Sound System probably has the coolest looking design for a headset that I’ve seen period. I believe they come in an orange color but personally my favorite is the Pysko red! I have received numerous comments about the look and appeal of this headset and how it has the most unique and futuristic look out of any headset on the market. Instead of having your normal adjusters on the sides going up the headband, it adjusts by keeping the entire top piece in place and just moving along slots that are nicely fitted into the earphones. Probably one of the neatest features of the structural design on the headset is its flexibility while putting it actually onto your head. It has bendable cross pieces that allow you to extend the headset out horizontally and place it on to your head without the worry of possibly snapping the headset in half, shorting some wires, or permanently damaging the headsets base. Skeptics believe that this headset is too bulky and there is no way that it is comfortable, all I have to say is don’t bash it until you try it! I thought there was no way that this headset was going to be comfortable but I was entirely wrong. It provides the user with the capability to have it adjusted however is best for them so the strain is evenly distributed. It also has nicely padded ear phones with soft top padding that cover the 5 speakers that are on the head band as well.
Technology:
“The Perfect Room” is how Pysko Audio describes the experience you have when using one of their sound systems. This means that while experiencing game play you can physically hear different sounds in an entire 3D aspect, as if it was actually happening from the side or behind you. I have played many different FPS over the years and while playing CS 1.6, CSS, and CoD 4 I was able to hear my enemies run around me in an entire circle. At any point in time I could pinpoint exactly where they were and what direction they were moving. This type of technology is achieved through the advanced speaker system that the headset comes equipped with. This headset comes with an arsenal of 5 speakers, 2 subwoofers, and does not use DSP (digital sound processing) which in turn gives the user natural immersive sound. Yes I said subwoofers, a headset that actually has minisubs that you can actually hear and feel adding to the entire effect. I think this type of setup makes it very advantageous and enables the user to use “audio as a weapon” as Pysko deems. I feel that this particular technology and precision sound would make a huge difference for any competitive FPS player. Every gamer is always trying to find ways to better equip themselves with gear to improve their gameplay. From my experience using the headset will definitely be a huge asset to you after you adjust to its precision. At first it’s almost like it is too good which can potentially throw your game off. Now that I have made the adjustment I could never go back to a regular headset that isn’t 5.1 surround sound.
Additional Comments:
Another one of the cool features that I discovered on the headset that most people can’t really see is the earphones have flaps that you can vent open. I found this extremely useful in a LAN setting when you are playing games with your friends/team or even just casually. You have the luxury of either being entirely submerged into the game, not being able to hear basically anything around you or being able to hear the game well but can still talk and hear the things going on around you.
As you will notice in the pictures below it has a removable microphone that can easily just be plugged into the bottom of the right earphone. The mic is actually good quality and very durable it doesn’t have one of those little black mic covers so you don’t have to worry about that falling off all the time. Plus if you aren’t necessarily a gamer that likes to talk or hop on Ventrilo when you are playing you can just simply remove it and stow it somewhere.
Perhaps my one dislike about the entire product would have to be the fact that you have to plug it into a external power source. Most high-end headsets always have this and thus is the cost of owning a top notch headset. I feel that it is just more of an annoyance than anything but only takes a little extra time to setup. Don’t be alarmed, it simply plugs into the back of the amp not the actually headset so you actually don’t even have to deal with it after the initial install.
Last but not least is the separate amp in which you can precisely adjust your volume and bass to that of your liking. I prefer to have the sound adjustments on a separate piece not connected to the cord of the headset; this makes it much easier to adjust your settings rather than trying to find the knobs on your cord right in the middle of a match. One of the complaints about this headset is that it is way too expensive and the casual gamer cannot afford one. I won’t disagree as it is rather expensive at a MRSP of $300.00, however you can replace the amp and microphone alone without having to buy another entire unit. This product is backed with a 15 day money back guarantee if you don’t like it and a one year warranty.
